Steve Champeau / CEO
Steve Champeau is CEO of Iverify with a primary focus on driving growth for the company through delivery of effective solutions for our customer’s needs. Previously, Steve served as President/CEO of Trans Alarm Inc for 7 years, having responsibility for the development and execution of a growth strategy for the business which ultimately resulted in the successful merger of its team and operations with Iverify. In this role, Steve and his team are responsible for Sales and Field Operations for the combined customer base of Iverify, Trans Alarm, and its operating units; Watchguard Security, Barone Security and PBSS Security.
Prior to joining Trans Alarm in 2007, Steve was President of the North American Region for Checkpoint Systems, serving retail chain-store customers through the installation, service, and monitoring of intrusion alarms, fire alarms, CCTV and EAS systems throughout the US and Canada. He also served in various capacities over a 22 year period with Checkpoint Security Systems Group (CSSG), and its predecessor company, Alarmex, including the VP General Manager roles in both companies. Steve was responsible for leading all aspects of those businesses, including building the teams to drive Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, IT, HR, Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Distribution, and Customer Service. Trans Alarm, CSSG, and Alarmex all experienced tremendous organic growth under the leadership and management of teams Steve directed.
The Minneapolis, MN native has dedicated his entire career to life-safety and property protection initiatives in the security industry by leading teams that deliver solutions for customers that make a difference. Initially educated as an FAA licensed A&P mechanic, Steve chose to repair security systems instead of aircraft. In part due to the large number of Viet Nam era military mechanics who Steve felt deserved a job more than he did, but also because he realized none of us really wanted to fly on an airframe that he had welded on. During the course of his career, Steve has participated in numerous personal and company-sponsored educational development programs including an alternative MBA program through the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Business, U of MN Executive Development Center, and Mahler’s Leadership Development course through Checkpoint University.
Steve also serves on the faculty of the IGA (Independent Grocers Alliance) Coca-Cola Institute for which he creates and presents coursework annually on Loss Prevention Initiatives and Technology for International Grocers.
Outside of work, Steve most enjoys time with family, chartering cruising sailboats on Lake Superior with customers and friends, is ASA (American Sailing Association) certified for Keelboat, Coastal Cruising & Coastal Navigation, is proficient at Celestial Navigation, and enjoys reading, power boating, and independent study of astronomy and physics.
Steve and his wife Carrie enjoy living on a lake in Minnesota, have been married 37 years and are proud parents of two daughters, two sons, and a daughter-in-law.
